Fisher Price Little Mommy Doll Dancy Dancy Baby

Fisher Price's Little Mommy Dancy Dancy Baby

So this post is about our beloved "Gulabi"..yeah, that's what my daughter has named her little mommy dancy dancy baby doll. Gulabi has been with us for nearly an year now, is very much loved and cared for and I guess it is going to be tough for me to be objective about her. But ok, I will give it a try (though I can't call her "it").

The Little Mommy Dancy Dancy baby by Fisher Price is a very cute doll. We surely found her cutest in the Little Mommy series in terms of looks, dress and hairstyle. She has proved to be a great first doll as my daughter immediately took a liking for her and has not yet got bored of playing with her. The fact that she is hard to touch and can potentially hurt a small child does bother me, but thankfully so far she has not caused any tears. I highly recommend her if you are looking for a good doll with some sounds and music. Here are some details about the features as I have noticed most stores don't give a demo.

The doll' s dancing is a rhythmic movement of her upper body and hands. Very nice to look at. She can be made to dance by pushing a button on her foot or by moving in front of her. There is apparently a sensor in her abdomen that gets activated when light falling on it is obstructed. The motion works fine in most circumstances except in very dim or very diffuse bright light, such as outdoors. The doll says some cute phrases in a random fashion. As far as our experience goes, my daughter was initially very excited by the dancing-talking feature and it definitely helped her become close friends with the doll, but after the first few weeks they were rarely used . I would still say that the interactive features are worth your money as they make the doll a whole lot more attractive to a small girl. We have not had to change the batteries even once. Bad, because it probably shows under utilization and good because battery change is going to be cumbersome owing to very small access through her dress.

I have read some reviews complaining about the fact that her clothes are not removable. True, they are not but I find it more of a blessing (who likes nude dolls strewn around). Her hair became a mess after a few weeks. Almost wish I could soften it with conditioner..but that's ok, we love our slightly naughty and messy looking doll.

As a Toy I would rate her excellent on entertainment, durability, and educational value.

In India she is currently priced at about 3500 INR. We got it for less than 2499 INR from Hoopos.com. And once I spotted a good discount on this doll on Beanstalkshop.com. So be on the lookout for a good deal as at 3.5 I think she is surely quite expensive.
